At Your Feet (Get Ready) is part of an ongoing series of performances entwining fetish, repetition, and stillness.
Imagined by Nicole, it stages two women sitting with composed elegance, their black-tie gowns gradually absorbing the water of a foot spa. Extravagant hairstyles and boleros heighten their cinematic presence, even as their attention drifts elsewhere: each remains absorbed in phone conversations, voices alternating between laughter and silence. Previous iterations of this series include: Marcelle Alix gallery and Bétonsalon in Paris in 2025, orchestrated by poet and curator Ana Mendoza Aldana.

Nicole (1997, Quito) explores exoticization and the domination of the gaze through performance, video, and installation. By subverting the codes of eroticism and fetishism, she questions the relationship between intimacy and power. Her recent works include At Your Feet (Count the Days Until) at Bétonsalon (2025), At Your Feet (Stand by) at Marcelle Alix (2025), TV Buddha at Mira Art Fair (2024), and Amor y besitos at DOC (2024). She also took part in the group exhibition El fantasma de Tennessee at Marcelle Alix (2025), and has shown her work at FRAC Île-de-France, Bétonsalon, Exo Exo, and Cantina Covadonga (Mexico City).

Ana Mendoza Aldana is a curator, art critic, and poet whose exhibitions are shaped by both intellectual and sensorial approaches, often starting from literature. In recent years, she has been exploring melancholy as a potential lens through which to understand contemporary artistic practices. She presented her most recent research at MAC Lima in Peru and will continue this work in 2026 in New Orleans, with the support of Villa Albertine.
