Exploring the political stakes of taste, fashion, and gender embedded in the term pacchiana—which originally referred to a traditional Calabrian dress but is now used pejoratively to describe women deemed vulgar, in “bad taste,” or “exuberant”—artist and curator Alice Minervini weaves narratives of femininity, fashion folklore, and camp aesthetics to reclaim the pakkiana as a transfeminist figure. Minervini’s practice unfolds through collaborations at the intersection of autofiction, performance, and affect, articulated across three interconnected chapters: glitch of intimacy, undressing capitalism, and reclaiming pakkianas.

Among her other projects, she co-founded Two Hours Ago I Fell in Love, a performance art festival that reimagines the imaginaries of love, sex, and gender identity within the ruins of a fascist building in Rimini. Minervini also publishes fanzines and artist books, including Comizi d’Emigrazione, a collection of letters exploring the intersections of love, sentimentality, and migration.
