Le Grand Almanach de poche (June 1, 2024-May 31, 2025) is a calendar designed by Benoît Piéron where patchwork, cuddly toys, flower boxes and snowballs take center stage. It follows the calendars by Katerina Seda, Ana Jotta, Bruce McLean, Mick Peter, Paulina Olowska, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Apostolos Georgiou, Agnès Thurnauer, Dorothy Iannone et Ricardo Valentim designed in collaboration with Clément Dirié since 2014.
“Twelve months under the snow, twelve months wrapped in snowflakes, twelve months of gentle advice on those things that are of the utmost importance: patchwork and sewing, cuddly toys, flower boxes and gardening. Things – another word would have to be invented – that live with us and need to be cared for, as much as they care for us. With this aptly-named Grand almanach de poche, Benoît Piéron cultivates some of his obsessions, to better tame them. “With these snow globes, I encapsulate personal memories linked to the pajama people’s collective intimacy. The enchanted distancing they offer enables me to disseminate representations of death and its living embodiment, illness, that differ from the boring, validist norm focused on remission without a thought for the ecstasies of foreplay,” he explains. When made miniature, negative waves are less frightening. When materialized, anxieties and flavors are embodied for conversation. When shaken in all directions, Benoît Piéron’s motifs invent new projections. Here’s to our needles, our caresses, our seeds. Our fingers are our best allies.”
