Information
Salon d’Été is a new weekend-long event held on July 22nd and 23rd 2023 at Maison Louis Carré, the famous Alvar and Elissa Aalto 1950s villa in the southwest countryside of Paris (Yvelines). The event brings together two dozen galleries and project spaces from the new Parisian art community, presenting one artist each in a joint exhibition within the villa, alongside a program of performances and talks, and a library of publications by the Paris-based bookshop After 8 books.
Salon d’été was initiated by Fitzpatrick Gallery, Sans titre, and The Performance Agency.
On this occasion, Shmorévaz presents works by Kevin Desbouis (b.1993). His practice explores abstract relations between bodies, economies, perversion, and repression, as well as forms of reconditioning, intensity, and disappointment. He creates situations and installations that evoke dysfunctional relationships to entertainment or moral dilemmas. Since 2022, he has also been the editor of Suckcess, a magazine and artist’s book that collectively investigates success, self-staging, and compromise, blending poetry, promotional language, and artists’ writings.
His work has been shown at venues such as Treignac Projet (2023), Gr_und Berlin (2023), FRAC des Pays de la Loire (2023), CAPC Bordeaux (2022), Sentiment (Zurich, Paris, 2022), Bains Douches (2022), Des Bains London (2022), Belsunce Project (2021), Futura Prague (2021), Sultana (Arles, 2021), Parliament (2021), Noah Klink (2022), Mécènes du Sud (2021), Palais de Tokyo (2020), and Crèvecoeur (2019). He has been a resident at La Synagogue de Delme, Triangle Marseille, and Spirit Shop in Lisbon. His works appear in the FRAC Île-de-France collection.
