Composed in a small house surrounded by the forest of Montmirail, Bismillah captures the contrast between inner turbulence and the calm of its surroundings. With layered patterns, subtle movement, and melodic fragments, it opens onto contemplative, nostalgic landscapes. Field recordings and fragments of human voices are folded into evolving sonic layers, while octave shifts and melodic lines emerge from randomized note sequences.

Sara Mokrani is a French-Algerian composer and sound designer working with modular synthesis, organ, and piano. Her practice combines composed structures with algorithmic processes that generate textures and shifting modulation patterns. Bismillah is her debut album, whose vinyl edition was co-produced together with the Ghent-based store and label, Objects & Sounds.
